| As the new millennium draws, astrology is coming back from the cold. Condemned by establishments for nearly four hundred years, it is now used by more and more from all over the world by those from all walks of life, that who are prepared to approach the subject with an open mind, and test its practical value in their lives. The matter is not whether you believe in astrology or not. Astrology is not a religion. Nor does it require psychic or clairvoyant skills. It is a body of knowledge, albeit with esoteric and occult connections that, from its beginnings thousands of years ago in the cradle of civilisation of Mesopotamia and India has developed into a sophisticated science. A science that is used - as it always has been - by royalty, world leaders, and people in positions of power, even if there are still few who would be willing to admit it. The debunkers of astrology might like to ponder on the impressive list of great names who either practice or investigated it and came to the conclusions that it works. Pythagorus, Plato, Galilee, Shakespeare, Isaac Newton, Goethe, Theodore Roosevelt, and C G Jung to name a few. In fact what Newton said to Edmond Haley (of comet fame ) when the latter was berating him for his interest in astrology is often cited as the perfect example for those who faced with the scorn of the sceptics: "I, sir, have studied the matter. You have not". That there exists a cause and effect relationship between events in the heavens and events on earth is what astrology is all about. What happens above has a direct bearing in happening below. No two people are going to experience a particular stellar influence in exactly the same way. In this sense, astrology is an art as well as a science. The art is in the interpretation of the scientific data. How this manifests itself in your personality and in your life is where interpretation - the art of astrology comes in. As we hurtle into the new millennium, changes are occurring faster than ever before History has taken quantum leaps in the past, but never before has change occurred at such a astronomical rate or on such a broad scale. The new millennium has spawned mass expectations that the new century will correspond with the beginning of a new, positive direction for humankind. A bit of astrology and some positive reinforcement - life altering perspective is required to be inculcated in our daily life to face the future with more confidence. We should start the new millennium with a thorough introspection into ourselves and working towards negating our negatives and working towards our positive, then one can guarantee amazing results. Awakening our intuitive powers and realising our potential needs a bit of introspection, patience and belief in ourselves. Basic knowledge in astrology can help us steer our lives and take the necessary precautions. If knowledge is power, then surely self knowledge is the most important power we can acquire in order to gain greater control over our own lives. Herein lies the value of astrology. In response to the eternal debate of destiny versus free will, astrologers are fond of quoting the ancient adage, "astra inclinant, non necessitant" the stars always imply they never compel. Voltaire struck on the perfect metaphor when he remarked "each player must accept the cards dealt to him or her. But once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game" How you play the cards is where the free will comes in. Clearly it would be wise to gain some knowledge of astrology for those who aspire to maximise their free will in the next millennium. HAPPY MILLENNIUM! | |
