Bharatanatyam recital by Manjula on May 17 and 18th, 2001 at the Forum Meyrin, Geneva
Manjula presented a two-day concert for the 'Ateliers d'Ethnomusicologie de Geneve'. This was the first time that an 8-member orchestra from India had come to accompany a Bharatanatyam performance. A unique feature of these concerts was the presence of two nadaswaram and one tavil player. Manjula presented a Malari and other ancient dance compositions. Arangetram of Sara Richtering on May 19th at the Ecole Henri Dunant, Geneva Arangetram of Jamila Dorner and Agnes Gafner on May 19th at the Jean Piaget hall of the Ecole de Culture Generale, Geneva Lecture Demonstration at the Forum de Meyrin on May 20th. This was a special LecDem for children featuring Silambam students, Prita, Priya, Malika, Manasa, Jamila and Agnes. Bharatanatyam Recital by Manjula and students of Silambam, Isabelle, Jamila, Agnes and Magali on May 21st at the International Labour Organisation. This concert was done to collect funds for the victims of the Gujarat Earthquake victims. Lecture Demonstration at the International School of Geneva on May 22nd featuring Silambam students Prita, Priya, Malika, Jamila and Magali. Bharatanatyam Recital by Manjula, Magali and Isabelle on May 23rd at the Usine a Gaz, Nyon. Bharatanatyam Recital by Manjula on the theme of Creation on Aug. 22nd and 24th at the International Music Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland accompanied by her orchestra from India. The Lucerne Festival on the topic of Creation with its approximately 80 events, 28 of which are symphony concerts, will be held from August 15 till September 15, 2001. With the topic of Creation, Lucerne Festival ends it trilogy begun in 1999 with Myths and continued in 2000 with Metamorphoses. Manjula presented two programs on Aug. 22nd and Aug. 24th at the Lion's monument named 'Wheel of Being' - The theme of Creation as shown in Indian Classical dance. | ||||
