Shree Bharatalaya was founded in 1970 by K.Sundararaja Iyengar, Sudharani Raghupathy and Madurai N. Krishnan, in a covered space available within the family compound. It was a modest begining, but the ideas that would make Shree Bharatalaya a unique institution of learning were developed and introduced at that time itself.
