To realise our aspirations, Parampara is organising various learning programmes with a qualitative difference. It is our desire to involve Gnanis, Bhaktas, Thinkers, Scientists, Artists, devoted housewives, individuals - all those who value systems - who can reach out and within in the true Indian spirit. We hope to understand life better through their experiences.

Here are the various activities and programmes organised by Parampara.

PIEC
A Parampara Education Center
Education
One of our main activities has been in the area of education. We have planned an integrated education programme for rural children, which will enable them to bring together the traditional wisdom and modern technological know how in a viable fashion. We hope to build several Parampara Integrated education Centres (PIEC) at district levels for the dissemination of integrated educational programmes. Through proceeds from our cards, we have built our first PIEC at Manali, a suburb of Chennai, in association with Vivekananda Vidyalaya. This is now operational and we hope to educate and inform the entire village, Our next project is being started at Sholinganallur.

PIEC will also promote adult education by imparting knowledge in health, hygiene, nutrition etc. through workshops, films and other media, to enable an entire village to improve its quality of life. Under this programme we have been able to make substantial contribution towards earthquake relief rehabilitation work at Uttarkashi.

Greeting Cards
Greeting CardsParampara cards are an attempt to bring to the public quintessential elements of Indian tradition : one, the spiritual, which views every facet of life as an aspect of an immanent divine unity; and the other, the aesthetic, which utilizes every such aspect to bring into consciousness and embody this inherant divinity.

Parampara cards serve another purpose as well. They help in funding the Integrated Education Programme for underpriviledged children. Each card thus helps in sponsoring a childs education. Thus, when you buy a Parampara card, your contribution will create the necessary ripple effect and reach out to thousands of children to whom education is the finest gift we can give.

The range of Parampara themed cards is available here.

Consultancy
To make the practical aspects of traditional concepts workable and capable of standing on its own as a viable metaphor of life, Parampara offers consultancy services for practioners who have made tradition a part of their lives, and who offer a holistic matrix of traditional thought and action to society after years of Sadhana. Our consultants are also trained to make viable contributions to a contemporary society.

The services offered are :

Vaastu

Herbarium
Simple methods for growing herbs necessary for a family are taught through workshops conducted by experts in the field.

Percolation Pits

Young World
Young World
Participants in the Young World Programme

This, an integral part of the Parampara movement attempts to awaken children to the essence of Indian traditions. Our objective is to instill in children a respect and appreciation of our culture. During the course of this programme, children are introduced to the richness and variety of our country's heritage. The primary aim is to make the learning process a joyous experience. Children will be exposed to concepts such as aesthetic awareness, introspection and respect for others in society and to care for all creatures. They will be taught to think for themselves and to follow their natural instincts for goodness, creativity and harmony.

Youth Programme
In the light of the dwindling connections between active society and traditional knowledge, the youth become a significant bridge between the past and the present. Through the youth, we must channelise traditional wisdom so that it may be transformed into a vibrant living system for future Indians.

The Parampara Youth Programme conducts a series of classes, workshops and discusiions on Ayurveda, Art & Craft, Yoga, Metallurgy, Weaving & Dyeing, Martial Arts, Vedic Mathematics, Human Rights and Agriculture & Forestry. The workshops are planned to be interactive and the thrust is on building an overall awareness in the individual.
