Srinidhi Chidambaram Srinidhi commenced dance training at the tender age of three, and made her mark when she was just seven years old. Since then, she has given over 300 performances in all the important art centres in the country - with the distinction of being the youngest artiste to perform at the First Natya Kala Conference. Other landmark performances include those at the : Sangeet Natak Akademi's Yuva Utsav at Shimla The Ghungroo Festival at Bhopal At the Shanmukhananda Sabha, Bombay The De'jure Festival at Pondicherry The Chidambaram Natyanjali Festival The Khajuraho Fetsival The inaugural function of the South Zone Cultural Center at Thiruvaiyaru Trained by the renowned Guru Kalaimamani Sri Swamimalai S.K.Rajarathnam, she follows the Vazhuvoor style of Bharatnatyam. With each one of her performances bringing her wide media acclaim, Srinidhi has won several distinctions and awards. She has been the youngest recipient of the highest award of the state of Tamil Nadu (the home of Bharatnatyam) - the "Kalaimamani". Some of the others are : Nadanamamani from Karthik Fine Arts Yuvakala Bharati Dr.MGR Award from the Music Academy Balasaraswati Memorial Award Rotary Youth Merit Award Best Child Talent in the International Year of the Child In the last few years, Srinidhi has emerged as a successful choreographer and has presented various themes such as "Prabodhana", "Charitam", "Madhuram" and "Pudumai Penn". But there's more to Srinidhi than just dancing. She's a medical graduate specialising in Public Health and belongs to a new breed of young professionals who are deeply committed to the art they practice and the profession they have chosen, striving to achieve excellence in both.
